COVID-19: Singapore bans social gatherings of any size in both private and public spaces

Social gatherings of any size -- both in public and private spaces -- have been banned in Singapore. Health Minister Gan Kim Yong told Parliament that the temporary measure means family members and friends who are not living together can no longer physically meet. The temporary law is valid for six months. First time offenders could face a fine of up to S$10,000 or be jailed for six months, or both. Under the same laws, the authorities can take over land, property or services needed to ramp up healthcare capacity and public health capabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
